I’ve been on this walk around the Opera House and it’s damn good. Catch it while you can.
“Join architect Eoghan Lewis in this in-depth and textured portrait of enigmatic Danish architect Jørn Utzon. The walk discusses the sources of the architect’s deepest inspiration and charts the development of Utzon’s ideas and their realisation – from the poetic simplicity of his competition winning scheme, through nine tumultuous but unbelievably productive years as he slowly realised the platform, concrete shells and ceramic skin.
The walk cover the political events that led to Utzon’s undoing in the mid 1960s, discuss his unrealised 1960s interiors and focuses on two key collaborations: those with German acoustic engineers Cremer und Gabler and Sydney plywood manufacturer Ralph Symonds.”
