Architecture comes alive for the sixth annual Sydney Architecture Festival under the theme Beyond Boundaries.
The Sydney Architecture Festival is about understanding Sydney and imagining the future of our city through its urban and built environment. SAF invites wide participation in dialogues about the future of our metropolis.
About the Sydney Architecture Festival
The 2012 Sydney Architecture Festival theme, Beyond Boundaries will encourage attendees to form connections across the city, encouraging a mode of celebrating, enjoying and investigating architecture that is outward focussed and collaborative.
The 10 day celebration of architecture offers more than 80 events – many free of charge – including guided architectural tours, talks, open houses, workshops, exhibitions and panel discussions. The program caters both to members of the architecture and design industry as well as actively involving the general public in discussions about the future of Sydney’s urban and built environment.
A major initiative that speaks to the 2012 theme of the Festival is the keynote event SUPER Sydney. This ambitious project seeks to gather insights, inspirations and visions for the future of the metropolis of Sydney. A group of Sydney architects are working with more than 40 local councils to conduct and document a series of one-on-one interviews with residents of all ages, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds across greater Sydney. SUPER Sydney (www.supersydney.org) culminates with the unveiling of the findings at the opening of the Festival on Wednesday 24 October.
