Open Day & Design Discussion 28 April 2013

“In different but very significant ways, Peter Corrigan stands alongside Robin Boyd as one of the most influential architects to work in Australia. He has been a major voice for a unique and distinguishable national identity in Australian architecture and the most vocal in proposing that the national identity is significantly shaped by the suburban life of the majority of the population.”

“In practice, with his partner Maggie Edmond, Edmond and Corrigan have designed a rich body of projects that have consistently both inspired and provoked the profession while arousing broad community engagement with architecture. Frequent articles and editorial on the work of Edmond and Corrigan in professional journals and the general media has resulted much debate and widespread discussion of architecture. “

“This open day provides an opportunity to visit, experience and discuss eight projects, ranging from the first house designed and built by Peter Corrigan to very recent houses designed by Edmond and Corrigan.”

“This open day has been arranged as one of the public programs associated with the exhibition Peter Corrigan: Cities of Hope showing at RMIT Gallery from 12 April to 8 June 2013.”
