This video walk through won second prize last month in the Design For The Children competition, which asked, “architects and designers from around the world to develop a sustainable, culturally responsive, pediatric clinic model for East Africa”. LCA is a Sydney practice taking to games software keenly. I guess it’s the way of the future, but I kept expecting someone to jump out of a door way with an AK47. They have a much bigger version of the vid on their front page at the moment.
Russell Lowe (FBE UNSW) wrote an article about animation in architecture last month (which is where I found LCA). He says, “If we take a look at [these architects’] present we’ll get a pretty good idea of what the future holds for the rest of the profession.”
LCA Team: Lara Calder, Martin McCarthy, Katherine Eustace, Andrew Wallace, Jason Tan.
Now that I’ve finished downloading the whole LCA video using my pathetic internet stick, I am left asking – why does the guy walk quickly through every corridor in the empty clinic and then come to a stop in the middle of the road outside? Where is everyone? Why didn’t he lock his truck? I can see that we’ll be demanding plots soon.
