Was Rem being honest / cheeky / stupid when he collaged naked women in lewd positions around his Beijing TV buildings, highlighting certain similarities between the building and the nether regions. The locals have woken up to it and aren’t happy.

The upcoming demolition of Lonsdale House, an art deco building in Melbourne’s dowdy Lonsdale Street, is attracting attention that must be worrying the developers and Myer. A brief survey of recent developments turns up calls to arms, critiques of Melbourne’s heritage policy, and thoughts about what inner Melbourne should strive to be.

Architectural Record’s House of the Month, Max Pritchard Architect’s Bridge House in Ashbourne, South Australia, is arousing passions on the AR website . Seven pages worth! Is it a gleaming train or a smashed plane?

For those in Melbourme too set in their Sunday ways to make it, Open House was the place you should have been. According to one volunteer, it was four times the size of last year’s. The concept is pretty basic – open up private buildings to the public for the day, and let them see what’s behind the facade. My visit concentrated on the rapidly growing part of town that is Docklands. Not necessarily growing very well, but there are some gems in the dirt.
